Who it's for
For clubs run across several systems, a spreadsheet and a lot of goodwill.
Most clubs end up with a membership product for joining and renewals, a separate tool for bookings, and a director sending emails by hand. Each piece is sensible on its own. The difficulty is what happens when they have to work together, run by volunteers who joined to help the club rather than to administer software.

Members join, renew and pay by card online. Renewal reminders, expiry warnings and lapsed notices go out on their own.
Facility bookings
Courts and tables booked from a phone against live availability, with the club's own fair use limits applied automatically.
Member communications
One message reaches the whole club, or just the part of it that needs to hear from you. Past members and visitors stay reachable.
Board reporting
A login for every director, and the club's figures drawn from one set of records, so two reports can't contradict each other.

When to buy instead
For plenty of clubs, a ready-made membership system is the right answer.
It's quick to set up, there's nothing to maintain, and if your club only needs members to join and renew, there's little reason to build anything. We'd rather say so than sell you a platform you don't need.
Worth building when the club has several jobs that have to work together, rather than one.
Worth building when the club has rules of its own that the software doesn't know about.
Worth building when the board spends its evenings joining up systems that don't talk to each other.
